Looking to Sell Your Mercedes-Benz E50 AMG?
The Mercedes-Benz E50 AMG is one of the rarer performance sedans from the early Mercedes-AMG era. Based on the W210 E-Class and powered by an AMG-developed 5.0-liter M119 V8, the E50 AMG combines understated styling, naturally aspirated V8 performance and genuine AMG heritage.
At Vintage Car Buyers, we actively purchase Mercedes-Benz E50 AMG vehicles directly from private owners, collectors and estates throughout the United States.
We understand that details matter when evaluating a rare AMG. Mileage, originality, condition, service history, factory equipment, documentation, color combination and provenance can all significantly affect an E50 AMG’s desirability and value.
MODELS WE ARE ACTIVELY BUYING
1996 Mercedes-Benz E50 AMG
We are actively seeking 1996 E50 AMG sedans in all conditions, with particular interest in original, low-mileage and well-documented examples. Rare factory colors, preserved interiors and strong service history are especially desirable.
1997 Mercedes-Benz E50 AMG
The 1997 E50 AMG is a rare opportunity for collectors seeking an early AMG V8 performance sedan. We purchase excellent collector cars as well as higher-mileage examples and vehicles needing mechanical or cosmetic attention.

WHAT MAKES THE MERCEDES E50 AMG COLLECTIBLE?
The E50 AMG represents an important period in AMG history.
Introduced during the early years of the W210 E-Class, the E50 combined Mercedes-Benz luxury with an AMG-developed naturally aspirated V8 performance package.
Under the hood is an AMG-tuned version of Mercedes-Benz’s M119 5.0-liter V8 producing approximately 347 PS.
Unlike the much more common AMG models that followed, E50 AMG production was limited. Approximately 2,870 examples are generally reported to have been produced.
The E50 was also never officially offered new in the United States, meaning many examples found here today arrived later as private imports.
These characteristics have helped make original E50 AMGs increasingly interesting to Mercedes-Benz and AMG collectors.
THE AMG M119 V8
One of the biggest reasons enthusiasts seek the E50 AMG is its engine.
The E50 uses AMG’s version of the legendary Mercedes-Benz M119 V8.
The naturally aspirated 5.0-liter engine develops approximately:
347 PS / approximately 342 horsepower
and
approximately 480 Nm / 354 lb-ft of torque
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission.
The M119 engine family is closely associated with some of the most collectible Mercedes performance cars of the 1990s, helping strengthen the E50 AMG’s appeal among enthusiasts.
A RARE PRE-E55 AMG
The E50 occupies a particularly interesting place in AMG history.
It arrived before the better-known W210 E55 AMG and combined understated styling with substantial V8 performance.
To the casual observer, an E50 AMG can look like a conventional W210 E-Class.
Collectors know otherwise.
AMG-specific wheels, suspension, brakes, body components, interior details and drivetrain modifications transformed the E-Class into one of the notable European performance sedans of its era.
That understated appearance is one of the qualities enthusiasts appreciate most today.
ORIGINAL E50 AMG CARS ARE ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE
With rare performance cars, originality can significantly affect collector interest.
We especially want to hear about E50 AMGs retaining features such as:
- Original AMG wheels
- Original AMG bodywork
- Factory interior
- Factory engine and drivetrain
- Original paint
- Factory identification tags
- Service history
- Import documentation
- Japanese maintenance records
- European delivery paperwork
- Factory books and manuals
- Original keys
- Period AMG equipment
Do not worry if you are unsure whether everything on your car is original.
Send us photographs and the VIN and we can review the vehicle.
JAPANESE-MARKET E50 AMG CARS
Japan became an important market for high-end Mercedes-Benz and AMG vehicles during the 1990s.
As a result, some exceptionally preserved E50 AMGs have later surfaced in Japan with comparatively low mileage and extensive documentation.
Vintage Car Buyers is interested in Japanese-market E50 AMG vehicles as well as cars that have already been imported from Japan into the United States.
If your car includes Japanese service records, auction documentation, maintenance stickers or import paperwork, please include those when requesting an offer.
HAVE AN E50 AMG WITH UNKNOWN HISTORY?
That is okay.
Rare Mercedes vehicles sometimes change hands without complete documentation.
If you recently inherited an E50 AMG, purchased one as part of a collection or simply do not know much about the car, send us:
- VIN
- Current mileage
- Exterior photos
- Interior photos
- Engine compartment photos
- Any AMG identification markings
- Service records if available
- Your location
We can review the information before discussing an offer.
